Skills
Throughout the four years that I have spent in Gaylord College, I have grown in many facets of my professional skill set. The three that I have had the ability to pour into the most is writing, design, and brand management. Throughout my education, as well as the experience I have gained from an internship as well as extra-curricular leadership positions, I have grow in many ways that will allow me to flourish any career that I pursue.
During my time as a student in Gaylord College, I have had the chance to develop my skills as a writer in many ways. I spent time observing and learning to write journalistically, as well as in tones geared towards the benefit in a public relations media package, as well as advertising. This time has allowed me to expand my knowledge of AP Style, and the advantages that come with the skills of writing.
With the ever changing culture of mass communication, an understanding of design techniques is priceless. Using platforms such as Canva and the Adobe Suite, I have learned to create visually appealing and innovative designs that are specifically fitted for the client at hand. This also leads into an understanding of the importance of color, font, and other typographic brand assets.
An understanding of brand identity is where my passion as a public relations specialist lies. In order to understand the world of PR, one must understand the rich history of the brand itself, and how to enhance and grow itself. Throughout my time as a student, I have had many opportunities to grow this skillset, rather through my courses, as well as during my role as Public Relations Coordinator for Campus Activities Council.
